Our very talented Designer, Mariana De La Garza, had the opportunity to attend the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and the International Builder Show (IBS) earlier this year. This is where designers get a first look at the latest product innovations and kitchen & bath design trends. Some of the products we’ll share have yet to make it to the market, but will go into production soon as we look forward to incorporating them into our projects.
Here are the top 3 trends we repeatedly saw from different vendors throughout the show.
Chef’s Kitchens
Our goal when designing a kitchen is to provide efficiency, organization, and storage with a beautiful design. Reverse osmosis filtration systems waste about 5 gallons of water for every gallon of water that is produced. The Kraus Clarita Reclaimed Water Tank, an innovative, two-step water conservation system, has yet to hit the market, but it saves up to 40 percent of water, which can then be used to wash dishes, hands, etc. In addition, the outer tank is made from recycled ocean plastic. Signature Kitchen Suite featured the 24-inch Integrated Column Wine Refrigerator as an extension to their refrigerator/ freezer system. All about convenience, this product is WiFi enabled and has an InstaView window, so the consumer doesn’t have to open the door to see what is stored. This is a beautiful product to be used as an addition to any kitchen and is now available. The Fortile Island Range Hood is the first intelligent, self-adjusting island hood available on the market. It monitors the kitchen for harmful gas or noxious fumes. After manually starting the function button, the fan will automatically operate and extract harmful gas from the house. We’re so excited to learn about these new products!
Exciting Laundry Spaces
It’s not very likely that you’ll hear someone say that doing laundry is fun, but we can design these rooms to be beautiful and efficient when used. Nothing is worse than walking into a humid laundry room; this product can help. The LG Studio Styler not only functions as a dehumidifier, but it will lower your dry cleaning bill because it will clean your clothing using steam. All you have to do is hang up your favorite coat or set your kid’s backpack in the closet, which will remove bad odors and sanitize it. The Steam Closet is already available for purchase. The next of our favorites is the GE Profile Ultrafast Combo 2-in-1 Washer and Dryer. This product saves you space and time. One machine can both wash and dry; the best part is that you don’t need to transfer the load. This washer and dryer will launch in June 2023. Floor and Decor introduced their new large format tile or XL porcelain slab at the IBS show. This rectified tile can be used for wall cladding and countertops. It’s a cost-effective solution for both the laundry room and bath countertops.
Health and Wellness in Bath Design
People are realizing the importance of self-care, and as designers, we ask many questions to ensure that we are designing spaces perfect for decompressing after a long workday. There were many incredible and innovative tub and shower systems this year, but here are some of our favorites. The Kohler booth was grand and the first thing you saw when you walked into the convention hall. They did not disappoint; their Stillness Infinity Bath made a statement. It looks beautiful with its overflow infinity design and orchestrates a sequence of light, fog, and aromas to immerse your senses fully. If you are not a bath person, you might be after seeing this product. Unfortunately, they have not announced a release date, but we are sure these will fly off the shelf once it’s in production. We asked, and Delta listened! Designers have been asking for a shower steam system to complement their beautiful shower fixtures. Their new Steamscape Series will be released in the Summer of 2023. Toto USA’s new Flotation Tub with Zero Dimension follows their clean line designs and innovative experiences. It features a neck bath, water massages, and air jets to create a soothing experience. It’s now available for purchase.
