How to Choose the Perfect Rug

There’s lot of great reasons for incorporating rugs into your home design. They’re practical, fun, and provide a touch of comfort for concrete, hardwood, or tile floors. Whether you’re designing a country home, contemporary office or urban loft, there’s a perfect fit for every style. The fabulous thing about rugs is that they’re versatile enough to satisfy whatever you’re looking for!

Choosing the right rug can be tricky, but don’t fret, we’re here to offer some guidance. Keep reading for tips on how to choose to the perfect rug for your space.

You don’t have to break the bank to find the perfect rug.

Your budget might be a huge determining factor in your decision. However, it is important to know that it doesn’t have to limit your choices. There are plenty of amazing rugs for every price point.

Be mindful of purpose and location.

Will you be placing your rug in an area with high traffic or somewhere more private? Will it need to be suitable for elderly and wheelchairs? Your answer will probably determine the appropriate texture. For example, if you’re going to place a rug in a child’s room or in a family area that sees a lot of entertaining, a silk, high-pile or shag rug probably wouldn’t be the best idea. Keep in mind, there are many wonderful choices for indoor/outdoor type coverings, too. If you’re worried about spills or dirt consider rugs by Perennials. They’re made to handle the tough stuff! These rugs are made with 100% solution-dyed acrylic technology, which means along with resisting fading and mildew; they’re also incredibly easy to clean all kinds of stains!

Use color and patterns to complement your space.

Rugs are great for adding artistic value to a room. Make a statement by choosing a rug with bold patterns and rich colors. Use your rug to dress up a neutral toned room or allow it to be the starting point for the whole room design! I love the variety of colors & patterns. There are different looks from all over the world and many new rugs are beautifully made to emulate those.

Think about the future.

While bright colors, bold shapes, and interesting patterns are great for snazzing up a room, consider how you’ll feel about your rug in six months or two years. Will you still feel as strongly about it then? What is trending now may not be trending for much longer, so just keep that in mind. You can always use the rug in another area when you tire of it.
