This started out as a blog about which bars can I take my mostly unruly, but very cute dogs to, but I found so many more opportunities for fieldtrips where my furry friends can go with me to have fun:
Go to a Dog-Friendly Bar in Houston
Meet dogs, their owners and drink beer. What could be better? Try Cottonwood, Kirby Ice House, St. Arnold’s, W. Alabama Ice House or Nett Bar! They all have large patios and friendly folks.
Go To a Dog Park
Go for a walk with your dog in one of Houston’s many dog parks where your pet can be off her leash, run, play, and meet other dogs or even go swimming. A few of the best Houston dog parks are Danny Jackson Family Dog Park, Millie Bush Dog Park, Levy Park Dog Park, Discovery Green dog run and Buffalo Bayou Dog Park.
Enjoy A Bite at a Dog-Friendly Restaurant
There are plenty of dog-friendly restaurants in town. Some of the more popular dog-friendly restaurants, where dogs are always welcome at the outdoor tables, are: Barnaby’s locations, Good Dog, Giacomo’s, Backstreet, Boheme and Eighteen36.
See A Dog-Friendly Concert
Hermann Park has a spacious outdoor theater. The entertainment ranges from music to plays to dance performances from all different cultures. All shows are free, and all welcome four-legged audience members. Get a blanket, a bowl of water and sit on the hill for the most fun.
Visit the Arboretum and Memorial Park
The Arboretum is a 155-acre wildlife sanctuary with more than five miles of walking paths. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash, and admission is free. Also, Memorial Park Trail is a favorite of dogs and their pals.
Chloe and Ava, partners in crime and sisters (who like each other most of the time).
